A Year in Review

I am SUPER behind with our family blog.  I remember people telling me that time flies the older your kids get.  I am finding this to be true!  As a result,  I am doing one big post looking back at our year.  It was a great one!  Here are some highlights:

Mackenzie:

This was Mackenzie's last year of Elementary School.  I can't even believe that this chapter has closed.

This year, Mackenzie played basketball for the first time!  She proved, yet again, to be a natural athlete.  She loved playing point guard and even represented her team at a District event, called Midnight Madness, in a shootout.  She competed with a dozen girls ages 5th grade to 8th grade and ended up being 3rd place.  We were so proud of her!!

She played her 4th year of softball and added pitching to her resume.  She did amazing under pressure and proved to be a great pitcher. However, he favorite spot on the field is 1st base...and she never misses a pop fly.  She played on the All-Star team again this year.

This year, she received a "Wolfie Award" at school.  Several kids are picked throughout the year for being a stand-out kid.  Her P.E. teacher, Mr. Sutphen nominated her for her amazing athletic abilities. She had no idea that she was getting this award, and Nana, Grandpa, Grandma and Grandpa, all were present to see her get her award.  It was a moment I will never forget and I was so happy for her to be honored her last year of Elementary school.

Caleb:

Caleb is a 2nd grader and is still our numbers guy.  He is also completely sports obsessed; I have a feeling this is going to remain a constant.

Caleb played another great year of Flag football, leading his team in touchdowns and interceptions.

He also played basketball for the first time, and led his team in rebounds and points.  He averaged about 20 points a game.

He continues to be a happy-go-lucky kid and always has a smile on his face.

Both kids competed in the GOTR 5K.  Kenzie and I did the 5K and Caleb ran the kiddie run.  So proud of them both!  Kenzie blew me away...no surprise! She greeted me at the finish line!

As a family, we enjoyed some  Buckeye  football and basketball Games, Clippers game, and a CAVS game.

Here are some other family highlights:  Who can resist good old fashioned fun at the Loudonville Street festival?
