Remembering Monty

I was blessed to have the World's  best Grandma for 39 years. She was young at heart, even at the very end. She was adored by all who knew her. She was a true southern girl and had the best accent ever. She loved Razorback football, card games, reading, gardening and being with those she loved. She was a real whipper snapper and always surprised  us with her quick sense of humor. She had a green thumb and in my early years of marriage,  helped plant knockout roses in our yard. I always think of her when i see red roses. She was the proud great grandma to her 7 great grand kids and grandma to 3 girls. I truly could go on and on sharing memories of her, and honoring her life. We spent our summers visiting her lake house in Eufala, Ok. I remember countless games of cards and fresh biscuits  and gravy for breakfast.  As a college students, she loved to write me letters. We became quite the pen pals. Once when I got the stomach bug, she drove 2 hrs to pick me up and pamper me with homemade soup and warm baths. As an adult, she provided Jeremy and I with a very generous savings account which allowed us to make a down payment on our first home. She loved on my children  like they were her own and we never left a visit with her without something of hers....candy, a knick knack, travel tissues, etc. She was generous and giving til her last day. I am sad we missed saying  goodbye,  but know that was probably  the way she would've wanted it. She never liked big fuses and didn't like others seeing her not at her best. She is reunited  in heaven with her parents, brother and daughter Ruth Ann. Her absence on Earth is sometimes unbearable,  but I know she is free of pain and surrounded by loved ones in heaven.  I know she is watching down on us and I take comfort in that.

We honored her memory this Mother's day with a backyard  balloon launch. We each sent her special messages to heaven, and I know when she got them she replied "my, my....my stars and stripes forever more."

Miss you Monty and can't  wait to be reunited one day again!

Easter

Following our Easter traditions, we went to Nana and Grandpa's church Easter egg hunt. It was lots of fun and the kids went home with lots of candy and fun goodies! Of course the Easter Bunny made his visit to our house too!

Happy Easter!

Spring break

After a harsh Winter, we decided to head south for Spring break.

We enjoyed sunny days swimming at the pool, met up with Grandma and Grandpa Buzzard for a trip to Busch Garden's, went to the Aquarium, and enjoyed the sand in our toes! It was a fabulous trip. Here's  some of the highlights.
